What time/where does Tulsa Learning Haven Meet?
10:00-3:00 in South Tulsa near 81st and Sheridan
We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays
What does the day look like?
10:00-12:00
A fun loving teacher will oversee PreK and K, which will be mostly play based learning. They will learn in stations, sing songs, and play cooperative games with their peers. They may recieve teacher led instruction in literature and science topics.
Ms. Kristin will teach reading and writing for grades 1-3. 1-3 will meet in small groups and rotate through stations, one station will be small group explicit reading instruction with other students working on the same reading skills.
Ms. Nikki will oversee grades 4-6 in small group literature circles, where they will discuss and discover their assigned books. Students will receive individualized writing feedback and will occasionally have writing homework. Students will work on their public speaking skills as well during this time with oral reports.
12:00-1:00 will be socializing time with lunch, recess, and free play. Students may be split into groups for nature exploration on the beautiful grounds.
1:00-1:45 will be teacher led art or nature studies for all grades with projects designed to be flexible for all ages.
1:45-3:00 will be spent working on assignments sent in from home. Each child should bring enough work to occupy at least 1.5 hours of their time here from home. Whatever they do not finish can be rolled over to the next time they come or done the other days of the week at home. Teachers will walk around and help as needed with their home assignments. Snacks can be eaten any time between 1:45-3:00 as they work.
Nature study, hiking, and crafting will be encouraged and scattered throughout the day. Our environment is suited for outside learning time and students will be encouraged to explore!
